So there's this guy in the bible who I call "The Greatest Showman" who we can learn many lessons on staying in our Identity and fighting for our joy from. His name is Elijah - The Prophet.

Elijah had Audacity! How an old testament man understood his identity and power in Christ so much is amazing. When Elijah told Ahab it wouldn't rain till he said so, do you notice he didn't even ask God first? But as he spoke no rain. Ahab sent men around the world to find him but they didn't. 3 years later your guy appears and invites the Prophets of Baal to the Greatest Show. He asks them to call their God to consume their sacrifice with fire. 2 hours pass no fire. Baba starts to taunt them till evening. Then he asks them to pour plenty water on his own meat. After that he asks God to show and God shows. Immediately after he kills 850 prophets with his sword. Then he tells the King its going to rain. He tells Ahab to enter his chariot and run before rain meets him. And the bible says he outran the chariot! How now! Street Church said God turned leg into leggedis benz.

But next Morning Jezebel swears Elijah dead and Elijah runs and hides and even throws God a tantrum. After all the audacity and exercising Prophet power Elijah still forgot in a split second who he was and who his Daddy and commander was.

I wish I could tell you that after all my experience with depression and writing the Fight for Joy - that I overcame falling into depression. I wish I could tell you I cracked the code. But Elijahs story offers but a lesson and a consolation. Consolation that even when you fall - even when you find yourself depressed over stuff you thought you were offer - that it's only human and you're not alone. And a lesson that it's not enough to stand on God's promises and word - we need to be extra 24/7 vigilant to make sure we stay on course. It's like Peter in the boat - when you take your eyes off Jesus you will sink.

You will fail in the fight against joylessness and depression sometimes. Your eyes will shift. You will lose focus. But the good news is the devil might win the battle never the war.

The righteous fall down 7 times and stand up eight. Next time you fall remind yourself of God's promises and climb back out the pit and be cautious. The devil won't win. Can't win.

Meanwhile if you haven't read the Fight for Joy. You suppose read am
